  2. Delhi is getting ready for Commonwealth Games 2010
    • Participation by 71 Teams
    • Feature 17 Disciplines of sports
    • Around 2000 staff and 18,000 volunteers
    • 12 days of sports and events in 11 main venues of the city.
    • Around Rupees 12 billion allocated to develop infrastructure.
    • 20 cities being developed as tourist destinations.
  3. GAMES VILLAGE NEW DELHI
    • The Games Village is spread over an area of 63.5 hectare .
    • Created at a cost of USD 230.7 million
    • Equipped with modern amenities and facilities
  4. Airport being modernized , expanded and upgraded. Increased capacity to handle 60 million passengers annually.

  5. By 2010 Delhi Metro will be 2nd largest network in the world.
    Dedicated Metro line from the airport to the city centre – Connaught Place.
    Games village and stadiums will be interconnected through metro.

    • Heritage Circuit linking the three World Heritage Sites Red Fort, Humayun Tomb and the QutubMinar is being Constructed.
    • Two million foreign tourists and 3.5 million domestic tourists are likely to arrive in Delhi in 2010 as a result of the Games.
    • The government has extended a five-year tax rebate to the tourism industry to create jobs and increase development
  9. INDIA Plans Massive Security for 2010 Common Wealth Games
    In an effort to tighten security arrangements ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games here, the Centre has sanctioned creation of 5,000 additional posts in Delhi Police.
    In preparation for the Games and to promote security at major tourist destinations, Indian states will be deploying a force of "tourist police" far before the Games begin
